Arsenal are keen to sign Andrea Petagna, according to CalcioMercato, but Napoli have no interest in selling him.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta apparently personally identified Petagna as a target for his side, as he feels that the striker could be perfect for the Premier League.

However, Napoli are looking forward to having Petagna back with them next season, and are said to be determined to keep hold him, despite Arsenal’s interest.

Petagna spent last season out on loan at SPAL, where he scored 12 goals, but it was not enough to save his side from relegation.

Despite that relegation heartbreak, Petagna did enough with limited service to impress, and that has led to interest from Arsenal.

Petagna does possess a lot of physical qualities, and it is claimed that he could be targeted as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.

Petagna certainly would offer Arsenal a different option to what they currently have up top.

The powerhouse striker is particularly strong in the air, and he could be a solid option to lead the line for the Gunners next term.

With Napoli determined to keep him, and Arsenal operating on a limited budget, any deal currently looks complicated though – and it seems that the transfer has a very limited chance of coming off, unless Napoli’s stance over selling him changes.
