According to The Sun, Mikel Arteta wants to bring Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan to Arsenal in the January transfer window.

It’s claimed that Arteta has picked out Jordan as the player to solve Arsenal’s midfield issues, and the Gunners have tracked him for three years.

A move to Arsenal to work with Arteta would allegedly appeal to Jordan, but the Gunners would have to cough up a hefty sum.

Jordan – who only cost Sevilla £13million from Eibar in 2019 – has a £55million buy-out clause in his contract, but Sevilla would settle for £32million.

The 26-year-old has been a regular under Julen Lopetegui, racking up three goals and six assists in 66 appearances for Sevilla.

The former Espanyol ace isn’t all that impressive athletically, but he is superb on the ball, possessing a great passing range and the ability to cause mayhem from set pieces.

Jordan is a progressive passer and a threat from long range, but he isn’t afraid to get stuck in whenever needed.

With Dani Ceballos set to leave at the end of the season, Jordan could be his long-term replacement – and signing him would finally give Arsenal a player they have wanted since 2017.
