Report: Arteta tells Arsenal man he’s not going to play much this term, how player’s reacted

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has told Reiss Nelson that he won’t get many chances under him this season, Football London suggest.

When Arteta first took charge Nelson was given plenty of praise by Arteta, with the Arsenal boss immediately taking a shine to the youngster.

However, Nelson didn’t quite manage to nail down a first-team place at the Emirates last term, and following the addition of Willian there are now doubts over how much game-time he will receive.

Nelson could potentially leave on loan now, as Arteta doesn’t want to block his development by leaving him on the sidelines for a year.

However, Nelson apparently is not keen to depart Arsenal, even on a temporary basis, and wants to change his manager’s mind.

Nelson currently would rather stay and fight for his place at Arsenal, even if he risks not playing, which could be a gamble on his part.

Nelson did at least get some minutes last night, as Arsenal beat Leicester City 2-0 in the League Cup.
