Mikel Arteta has informed Sead Kolasinac that he won’t be needed at Arsenal this season and that he can go, according to a report.
The former Schalke defender, who joined Arsenal three years ago, is heavily linked with a move away from North London.
German outlet Bild have reported this week that Bayer Leverkusen are interested in the burly left-back, who earns £100,000 at the Emirates Stadium.
Since June, Kieran Tierney has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best left-backs.
And Team Talk have this morning reported that Arteta has told Kolasinac that he is free to leave, due to the security that he has in the form of Tierney.
Good idea?
Well, no. Arsenal could and probably should keep Kolasinac, who started last night’s win over West Ham United.
The reason why he started is because Tierney felt discomfort in the warm-up, prompting Arteta to go with the Bosnia & Herzegovina international.
Tierney’s first season in England was ravaged by injury last term and although the Scot is clearly a much better left-back, the Londoners could be in trouble if the 23-year-old’s latest issue is serious, without Kolasinac there to deputise.
