Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has serious doubts about Sokratis, according to Football London

Arteta has apparently told the £18 million centre-back (Daily Star) that he has very little future in Arsenal’s first-team, and that he should leave in the summer.

Sokratis has struggled for game time at Arsenal ever since the Spaniard arrived, and Arteta apparently feels that he just doesn’t fit.

Sokratis isn’t particularly strong on the ball and with Arteta determined to make his side play out from the back, the Greek powerhouse could see his game time limited.

Arteta has reportedly told Sokratis he is free to find a new club, but the 32-year-old has no desire to leave Arsenal, according to Football London.

Whether that will change if Arteta continues to overlook remains to be seen, but it has been suggested that Sokratis’s stance could cause problems.

Arsenal may need to sell to buy this summer, and getting Sokratis’s wages off their books would help Arteta’s cause to bring in new additions.
