Since Raul Sanllehi left Arsenal in August of last year, Edu has been the one calling the shots on transfers.
But Mikel Arteta does also have a say and according to one new report, he actually has quite a lot of pulling power.
It’s been widely reported that Arsenal are on the brink of signing Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard on a half-season loan.
But VG in Norway has today claimed that the 22-year-old was ‘seduced’ into the move to North London by none other than Arteta himself.
Odegaard snubbed moves to Real Sociedad and Ajax and it would appear as if the Arsenal boss has got his man.
The fact that Arteta wants him is good news for the Emirates Stadium club.
Arteta himself used to be a midfielder and given that the Norway international operates in a similar role, the Arsenal head coach clearly knows what he’s talking about in that regard.
Odegaard is earning £85,000 per week at Real, indicating that he’s well thought-of in the Spanish capital and that tallies with the report that the Premier League side won’t have the option to sign him permanently this summer.
