Arsenal chief Edu is now eyeing up a double deal to take both Emerson Royal and Guido Rodriguez from Real Betis, Mundo Deportivo report.
Arsenal have recently been strongly linked with Rodriguez, but news emerged yesterday evening suggesting that they were now very interested in Emerson too.
Arsenal are thought to be on the look out for a new right-back, with the future of Hector Bellerin uncertain, and Emerson would fit the bill for what Mikel Arteta seemingly would be looking for.
Emerson is still on 22, but he possesses great speed and has proven his attacking quality over the past campaign in La Liga.
Getting the full-back from Betis could be complicated, though, due to the contractual situation he finds himself in.
Betis would be due 50% of any fee that Arsenal pay for Emerson, but Barcelona would be due the rest.
Barca also have first option on the player, and can make his transfer to them permanent by triggering a clause in his contract.
It means that Arsenal’s double deal with Betis is far from straight forward.
And it seems that if Edu does push ahead with trying to sign Rodriguez and Emerson it could be a complicated deal to complete.
