Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva could be on his way to the Premier League with Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham and Newcastle United looking to sign the veteran defender, 90Min reports.
Silva may be 35 these days but you’d be a brave man to suggest that the Brazil international is finished at the top level.
He was still one of the first names on the team-sheet as PSG cruised to yet another Ligue 1 title this season, making 30 appearances in all competitions.
And while he may no longer be a contender for the title of ‘world’s best centre-back’, it speaks volumes about his fitness and longevity that five Premier League clubs are looking into the prospect of bringing Silva across the Channel when his PSG contract expires in July.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal would benefit immensely from signing a player with such a remarkable CV.
Imagine what the likes of William Saliba, Matteo Guendouzi and Bukayo Saka could learn from a born winner who has a remarkable 26 trophies on his CV, including the Copa America, Serie A and seven Ligue 1 titles.

90Min adds that Newcastle, West Ham and Wolves are also interested, while a reunion with ex-PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti is also on the cards at Everton.
“When Thiago gets onto the pitch, he controls the defence with his great personality and character. He is the boss of the defence,” a gushing Ancelotti wrote in his 2015 book My Coaching Secrets.
“Thiago is a leader, technically capable of doing extraordinary things in the two phases of the game. With him, things at the back are simple and efficient.
“His speed, his great ability to recover the ball, the way he reads the game, all combined with an extraordinary leap in aerial duels makes him one of the best defenders in the world.”
ESPN adds that Silva, a former AC Milan star, wants to continue playing at the highest level possible. So if Arsenal or Wolves succeed in qualifying for Europe, they will surely have an advantage over their rival suitors.
