According to The Mirror, Arsenal will look towards Alvaro Morata if Tottenham Hotspur beat them in the race for Gabriel Jesus.
Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Jesus. Just this week Fabrizio Romano confidently claimed that the Brazilian is the Gunners’ top striker target, but with Tottenham also linked, there’s a chance that the Manchester City man ends up on the other side of the north London divide.
Luckily, Arsenal have a contingency plan in place for if Jesus ends up at Spurs, and it involved signing an old favourite of Antonio Conte.
Indeed, Morata famously worked with Conte at Chelsea, and while his spell at Stamford Bridge wasn’t the most successful, he was described as a ‘complete player’ by the Italian, and there’s reason to believe that he’d fare better at Arsenal than he did at the Blues.
At Arsenal, Morata could play to his strengths, he could be the true focal point of the attack, and if the rumours of Raphinha joining the club are true, he’d receive excellent service from out wide, something the Spaniard absolutely thrives on.
Of course, Arsenal will be hoping that they can win the race for Jesus. After all, they’ve been chasing the striker for months at this point, but with Tottenham able to offer Jesus the chance to play Champions League football, the South American could be swayed towards the Lilywhites rather than the Gunners.
Morata and Jesus are certainly two players worth keeping an eye on.
