Arsenal are interested in signing Pedro Goncalves from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2021, according to Eurosport.

It has been reported that Arsenal are looking at the former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder as a potential alternative to Martin Odegaard.

The Gunners want to keep the Norway international attacking midfielder next season, but it will depend on what his parent club Real Madrid want to do with the 22-year-old.

Arsenal have Goncalves on their radar, according to the report, which has added that he is the next Bruno Fernandes and has a £51.7 million buyout clause.

Record in November 2020 also compared the 22-year-old to Portugal international midfielder Fernandes, who has been superb for Manchester United since he moved from Sporting and is one of the best players in the Premier League.

Bruno Fernandes 2.0?

Goncalves was let go by Wolves in 2019, and after impressing at Famalicao, he joined Sporting in 2020.

According to WhoScored, the attacking midfielder has scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 22 league games for Sporting so far this season.

The youngster is having a very good season and could replicate the success of Fernandes in the Premier League, but one should remember that he is still only 22 years of age.
