Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 champion could reunite with Unai Emery in the Premier League with Arsenal.
Arsenal have contacted the father of Paris Saint-German defender Presnel Kimpembe, according to Soccerlink, ahead of a potential move which would reunite Unai Emery with the French international centre-back.
If you asked each and every Gunners fan which position they needed to strengthen this summer, most would put ‘centre half’ right at the top of the list.
For the second season in a row, Arsenal conceded more than 50 Premier League goals with Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos forming a less than reliable partnership at the back. Arsenal’s best defender is still the veteran warhorse Laurent Koscielny, who is expected to leave this summer.
So this perhaps explains why Kimpembe has emerged as the new defender on Arsenal’s radar.
Soccerlink claims that the Europa League runners-up have contacted the 23-year-old’s father to discover whether he’d be willing to swap the Parc des Princes for the Emirates.
A seven-time France international who still makes the odd howler despite his undoubted talent, Kimpembe forced his way into PSG’s starting XI during Emery’s two year spell in Paris between 2016 and 2018.
Speaking to L’Equipe in 2017, Kimpembe admitted that he had improved tactically under the former Sevilla coach.
And if the three-time Ligue 1 winner moves to Arsenal, he would surely walk into Emery’s starting line up.
