Arsenal are ‘very attentive’ to Diego Costa’s situation at Atletico Madrid as he edges closer to an exit, AS Sport claim.

Costa is said to be looking to leave his current club, with Mikel Arteta and Arsenal now assessing whether to make a move.

The Gunners are believed to be one of the most interested parties in signing the powerful forward, as they look to make their attack stronger.

Arsenal have struggled for goals this season, but Costa could prove a fairly cheap alternative to their current options.

Costa is free to speak to clubs from abroad in January, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old may be past his peak now, but he has still notched two goals in seven league games this season, and he has previously been a major threat in the Premier League.

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger once told the Guardian that he wished he had signed Costa at the Emirates Stadium, and labelled him a ‘top-quality’ striker who is very ‘dangerous’.

If he was to move to Arsenal he could offer them a useful outlet up-top, and would provide further competition for the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah up top.
