According to But! Football Club, Arsenal and Everton are interested in signing Wesley Fofana from Saint-Etienne in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported by the French news outlet that Everton wanted to sign the 19-year-old defender in the January transfer window and asked about him, and the Toffees have retained their interest in the teenager.

The report has added that Arsenal have joined their Premier League rivals in the race for the youngster.

However, according to the report, Fofana does not want to leave Saint-Etienne permanently this summer and wants to stay at the club for one more season to continue his development and progress.

Stats

Fofana made 13 starts and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 for Saint-Etienne this season, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.

The defender also played twice in the Europa League for the French club this campaign, according to WhoScored.

Promising talent

Fofana made his breakthrough in the Saint-Etienne first team this season, and the defender is one for the future.

Saint-Etienne manager Claude Puel described the Frenchman as a player who has “enormous potential with the state of mind of a competitor”, as quoted on Ligue1.com in April 2020.
