Arsenal are preparing for life without Arsene Wenger, and Everton boss Ronald Koeman appears to have moved right to the top of their list.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman
A report in the Daily Mirror has suggested that Arsenal look at Everton boss Ronald Koeman as potentially the perfect manager to replace Arsene Wenger should the Frenchman leave at the end of the season.
According to the Mirror, Wenger – whose contract expires this summer – will make a decision on his future at the end of the campaign but does have a two-year deal on the table ready to sign should he decide to stay on.
However, with the question mark lingering over the current Gunners boss’ future, the Arsenal hierarchy are making plans in case they need to find a new manager, and it seems that they have placed the Toffees boss at the top of that list.
The Mirror reports that Koeman has caught the club’s eye, but with Barcelona also monitoring his progress, it may perhaps be difficult for Arsenal to bring him in.
The Dutchman has certainly done an excellent job since arriving in England. He helped Southampton get over another player exodus and led them to the play-off round in the Europa League.

And his time with Everton has seen the Toffees go into the final 12 league games of the season still in contention to upset the heavyweights by breaking into the top six.
And with his teams often playing attractive football, it is not difficult to see why the Arsenal hierarchy are looking at Koeman as the man who could handle the extremely difficult job of following Wenger.
