Sheffield United have made it clear that there is ‘no chance’ that they will accept a £20 million bid from Premier League giants Arsenal for England’s Euro 2020 goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, as reported by The Star.
The Blades may have been blunted by relegation but do not make the mistake in assuming that, even finishing bottom of the table, a summer exodus was inevitable.
It has become abundantly clear over the last few weeks that Sheffield United will not be bullied into selling the much-admired Sander Berge, and the same can be said of a talented shot-stopper who joined from Bournemouth in an £18 million deal some ten months ago.
Arsenal were mulling over a bid in the region of £20 million for a player Jurgen Klopp labelled ‘incredible‘ last season.
According to Yorkshire Live, however, Sheffield United have made their stance clear, insisting that they will not even consider accepting such an offer.
Will Arsenal miss out on Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale?
Ramsdale is valued closer to £40 million.
What’s more, the Blades are his boyhood club.
Ramsdale has already insisted that he will not turn his back on Sheffield United, even if the prospect of Tuesday night trips to Luton, Reading and Middlesbrough are not exactly what he signed up for when putting pen to paper on a four-year deal last August.

Given that Arsenal are also pursuing deals for the likes of Ben White, Sambi Lokonga, James Maddison and Eduardo Camavinga – none of which will come cheap – it seems unlikely that they would be willing to double their bid for Ramsdale.
Especially when there are cheaper options on the market – Ajax’s Andre Onana for one.
The one-time Barcelona youngster is available for a bargain £7 million due to the fact that his contract expires in 2022.
Onana has also had a doping ban reduced until November following a successful appeal.
