One Arsenal legend left on Tuesday, but will he be replaced by another?
Arsenal have identified club legend Tony Adams as the man to replace Thierry Henry as the club’s Under-18 coach, according to The Mail.
Henry quit his role with the Gunners on Tuesday after it was reported that manager Arsene Wenger told him to choose between his coaching career at Arsenal and his punditry role.
The Mail now report that Adams – who spent 19 years with the club, winning four top-flight league titles and three FA Cups – will make an emotional return to the North Londoners and work alongside Kwame Ampadu with the Under-18s.
Wenger managed to divide the fanbase over his ultimatum to Henry – the club’s all-time record goalscorer.
Some agreed with the 66-year-old French manager that the former striker’s focus should be solely on coaching, while others felt that the 38-year-old could have juggled both roles.
A lot of old-school Gunners supporters will be delighted to see Adams return. He is an iconic figure in the club’s history and already has experience in management, having enjoyed senior roles with Wycombe Wanderers and Portsmouth.
