According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Spurs remain the favourites to sign Max Aarons from Norwich, but Mauricio Pochettino’s men will have to see off competition from Arsenal for his signature.

Aarons is proving to be one of the most exciting talents in the Championship. The 18-year-old has made 20 appearances for the promotion-chasers, scoring two goals and providing three assists for Daniel Farke’s side.

However, he may not be a Norwich-owned player for much longer. The Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners have become the latest side to join the race to sign the teenager, and plan to match any bid that their North London rivals make.

The report adds that Tottenham remain in the driving seat to sign £15 million-rated Aarons – who will reportedly only be allowed to leave the Canaries if he returns immediately on a loan deal until the end of the campaign.

Max Aarons of Norwich City scores a goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Norwich City and Rotherham United at Carrow Road on December 01, 2018 in Norwich, England.

It looks set to be a coup for whichever side manages to win the race to sign the youngster. Spurs have a cluster of excellent right-backs, but Aarons is looking destined to be a star of the future.

It will be interesting to see how the presence of Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters impacts on any decision Aarons has to make about his future as it is certainly not going to be easy for the starlet to force his way into the first-team picture straight away.
