Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could reportedly miss out on the signing of Romeo Lavia to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool or Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool want Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all want to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

Southampton will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League and are willing to cash in on Lavia now.

The report has claimed that Arsenal had been the favourites to sign the Belgium international defensive midfielder for £40 million.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants Lavia to replace Thomas Partey in the team, according to the report, which has added that the Gunners have already held talks for the teenager and thought that they were going to bring the 19-year-old to the Emirates Stadium for £40 million.

Twist

However, there has now been a twist.

Football Transfers are reporting this morning that Lavia could join Liverpool or Chelsea instead.

It is taking time for Arsenal to get a deal done for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and to sell Partey.

According to the report, “Arsenal cannot and will not complete a move for Lavia until Rice and Partey’s deals are resolved”.

Southampton are not willing to wait and want to sell players now so that they can build a team for the Championship, according to the report.

So, the Saints could sell Lavia to Liverpool or Chelsea if they are willing to pay £40 million for him.

Arsenal could now miss out on the midfielder.
