It looks like Arsenal might be winning the race to sign Gabriel Magalhaes.
The Brazilian centre-back has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners in recent weeks.
But with competition from Everton and more recently Napoli, Arsenal’s move was in jeopardy.
However, The Evening Standard have today reported that the North Londoners are growing increasingly confident that they’ve won the race.
Lille have allowed Gabriel to decide his own future, after putting a £22 million price-tag on him, and the English outlet claim that the Emirates Stadium side believe that they’ll beat the Italian giants to his signing.
If true, this will delight Arsenal fans.
They already have one very exciting young centre-back in the form of William Saliba, who is back at London Colney after spending last season on loan with Saint Etienne.
And the prospect of him playing alongside Gabriel next term is so very interesting – and if these rumours are believed, it’s probably going to happen now.
The Standard added that Gabriel’s prospective arrival will speed up a departure for either Sokratis Papastathopoulos or Rob Holding, both of whom seem surplus to requirements at Arsenal.
