Report: Arsenal think they’re going to sign ‘outstanding’ player who Mourinho had doubts about

Arsenal are confident of coming out on top in the race to land Norwich City full-back Max Aarons, according to 90 Mins.

Aarons has been one of the stand out right-backs in the Championship this season, with Arsenal one of numerous clubs taking a keen interest in him.

The report claims that Norwich have told Aarons that he will be free to leave if a club bids £30 million for him.

At that value he could be at the top end of the Gunners price-range, but Mikel Arteta and Edu are apparently convinced that they can get a deal over the line.

Arsenal are set to sell Hector Bellerin, which should help them raise the funds required to land Aarons.

If the Gunners are to sign the 21-year-old he will be yet another exciting talent to add to Arsenal’s youthful squad.

Aarons has shown great pace and attacking quality during his time at Norwich and a potential partnership with Kieran Tierney looks extremely exciting.

Aarons, who current Norwich boss Daniel Farke called ‘outstanding’ (NewsBreak), would need to work on the defensive side of his game if he was to join Arsenal.

Indeed, former Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is said to be one of the doubters of Aarons, with the Athletic saying that he had big doubts about the full-back, as he felt he was too small.

But Arteta seems to be favouring signing players who he can mould into his squad, and his best success has come when he has trusted in youth so far.
