According to Football.London, Arsenal are still in the hunt for Moises Caicedo, and the Gunners believe they could land the Ecuadorian international if Brighton sign a midfielder before the transfer deadline.

The north London club have already submitted a £60m bid for Caicedo, but the Seagulls have been firm in their stance that the player is not for sale.

However, it seems Arsenal may have a glimmer of hope in their pursuit of Caicedo, as Brighton could be open to letting him go if they secure a replacement midfielder.

However, if Brighton believe they are keeping Caicedo, there would be no need for them to sign another midfielder, so Arsenal may be hoping for an outcome that has no chance of happening.

Interestingly, Brighton have recently been linked with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who used to play for Arsenal. This adds a touch of irony to the situation, as it’s possible that the Gunners’ former player could help them secure the signing of the South American.

The 21-year-old has made a name for himself with Brighton, impressing with his performances and showing that he has the potential to become a top player, for a top club, in the future.

Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen his midfield and reportedly sees Caicedo as a perfect player to complement Thomas Partey in the midfield and is reportedly being eyes as a long-term replacement for the Ghanaian.

It remains to be seen if Brighton will sign a midfielder and whether or not that will open the door for Arsenal to sign Caicedo. The transfer window closes on February 1st, and it’s likely that we’ll know more about the situation by then.

With the transfer window closing soon, time is running out for Arsenal to secure the signing of Caicedo.

If they want to bring him in, they’ll need to act fast if Brighton do start to put the wheels in motion for a midfield signing.
