According to Bild, RB Leipzig are expecting to sign Red Bull Salzburg playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai next summer – potentially crushing Arsenal’s hopes.
It’s claimed that Leipzig don’t plan to do much business in January, but a deal for Szoboszlai is now ‘anticipated’.
Of course, Leipzig are Salzburg’s sister club under the Red Bull umbrella, and that may just make them favourites to sign Szoboszlai in 2021.
The Hungarian playmaker has been sensational this season, bagging five goals and nine assists in just 13 games for Salzburg.
At just 20, Szoboszlai is one of the top young playmakers around, capable of playing as a number 10, a central midfielder or in from the left flank.
Football.London note that Arsenal have been interested in Szoboszlai since the summer of 2019, and whilst they fell back in the race over the summer, the Gunners still want him.

Their interest has surely been heightened by a lack of creativity in the Arsenal side, and Szoboszlai would fit the bill as a long-term successor to Mesut Ozil.
Beating Leipzig was always going to be a struggle due to their Salzburg links, and it now seems that Szoboszlai will indeed be heading to Germany at the end of the season – meaning Edu will have to go back to the drawing board at Arsenal.
