Arsenal are looking to bring Alassane Plea to the club this summer, according to a new report from the Daily Mail.
It’s claimed that Plea wants to leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer, and could be let go on the cheap with just one year left on his contract.
The report notes that Gladbach may sell for around £15million, a cut-price fee given that he can leave for nothing in the summer of 2022.
Arsenal aren’t alone in the race though, because Manchester United are also thought to be keen on Plea in a potential bargain given that he cost Gladbach £21million in 2018.
Arsenal may yet sell Alexandre Lacazette this summer, and seemingly feel that Plea represents great value this summer with Edu seeking striking reinforcements.
Plea has hit double figures in goals in every season with Gladbach, and now has 36 goals in 104 games for the club.
Capable of playing out wide and up front, Plea can bring some versatility to the Arsenal attack, but at 28, he isn’t exactly a striker with huge longevity.
Plea does though admire Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, and wears number 14 as a result, meaning a move to North London could be a dream come true for Plea – something Edu is surely aware of ahead of the summer window.
