According to the Daily Mail, Sao Paulo attacker Brenner has an Italian passport – which could help Arsenal’s hopes of signing him.
It’s claimed that the Gunners are looking to bring in Brenner to give Mikel Arteta another goal threat, having made a poor start to the season in terms of goals.
Brenner’s deal runs out in 2022, and he has a £45million release clause in his contract, though Sao Paulo may now accept around half of that due to the financial impact of the global pandemic.
The big bonus for Arsenal is that Brenner allegedly holds an Italian passport, meaning that he wouldn’t require a work permit to join the Gunners.
That’s how Arsenal landed Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano last year, as he also had an Italian passport that helped him make the move to the Emirates Stadium.
Edu may now pounce to sign another young Brazilian striker, which would surely excite fans having been Martinelli impress last season.

The 20-year-old has scored 17 goals in his last 27 games for Sao Paulo, and looks to be a major talent for the future.
With question marks over Alexandre Lacazette’s future, landing another bright, young forward fits the bill for Arsenal – and a deal appears very possible thanks to that passport situation.
