According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have submitted a £5m bid for New England Revolution glovesman Matt Turner.
What’s the story?
Well, Arsenal have made a move for the 27-year-old, which plunges Bernd Leno’s long-term future at the Emirates Stadium in doubt.
The Gunners are interested in Turner as they look to provide better competition for Aaron Ramsdale, and Mikel Arteta seems likely to get his man.
The Daily Mail add to what Sky Sports are claiming, as they state New England Revolution recognise what a fantastic opportunity this is for the shot-stopper, and won’t stand in his way.
Therefore, the bid is likely to be accepted.
The Athletic believe it was previously thought that Leno would stay until the summer.
However, the German could now leave this month, if Turner is signed.
One potential destination for Leno is Newcastle, as 90min believe Eddie Howe wants the 29-year-old on Tyneside.
What can Matt Turner bring to Arsenal?

By the sounds of it, Turner’s biggest strength is his shot stopping.
The Athletic describe his ability to make stunning reflex saves as ‘exceptional’ – they add that he often leaves the opposition stunned.
Impressively, Turner was also named as the best goalkeeper at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2021.
It was the first time in history that a glovesman from Major League Soccer won the award, making Turner a record breaker (MLS).

However, there is one issue with the 13-cap United States international.
The Athletic state that Turner is weak in possession and remains insecure about having the ball at his feet, although he is working on it.
The way Arteta sets his side up sees Ramsdale involved heavily, so Turner will certainly need to improve in this department if he joins Arsenal.
Keep an eye on this situation, as the move could happen fairly quickly.
