Arsenal cannot afford to buy Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig this summer, according to Football London.

Arsenal have been linked with Upamecano for some time now, with the powerful centre-back thought to be high on Mikel Arteta’s list of targets.

However, the Gunners apparently don’t have the budget to bring him in this summer, which could be a blow.

It seems unlikely that Upamecano will still be at Leipzig next year, as interest in him is growing by the day, and it could be that Arsenal are set to miss out on him.

Arsenal, instead, will have to look at other targets – as Arteta appears to be having to shop around for bargains.

Upamecano’s asking price has actually fallen recently, with BILD claiming Leipzig now want £35 million for him, rather than the £55 million fee they were demanding a few months ago.

But Arsenal reportedly still feel that they cannot stretch to pay the fee that Leipzig want, with their budget very limited.
