Premier League giants Arsenal reportedly want Celtic’s Scottish Premiership winning left-back Tierney with Unai Emery a big fan.

Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, according to The Mail, as Unai Emery looks to bring a top class left-back to The Emirates as a long-term successor for Nacho Monreal.

The former Sevilla and PSG boss was expected to embark upon a major restructuring of his Gunners squad this summer but a failure to qualify for the Champions League means the North London giants will have a transfer kitty of just £45 million, as reported by Goal.

So it remains to be seen whether Tierney, a four-time Scottish Premiership champion, is still a realistic target for the beaten Europa League finalists.

According to The Mail, Emery is ‘convinced’ that Tierney has the potential to succeed at the top end of English football and it is claimed that Arsenal could even make an offer within the next few days.

But the report adds that Celtic would demand at least £20 million for a player who has risen through the ranks at Parkhead, making over 150 first-team appearances and winning the SPFA Young Player of the Year award on three occasions.

Tierney is under contract until 2023 and Celtic have no need to sell.

Furthermore, the Glasgow-born defender has shown little desire to follow the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama to the Premier League despite interest from some of the biggest clubs south of the border.

So regardless of whether an offer arrives, expect Tierney to stay for at least another year.
