Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has apparently agreed a contract in principle with Mikel Arteta’s side now, the Daily Mirror claim.

Aubameyang has verbally said that he will pen a new deal at Arsenal which is worth £250,000-a-week.

Arsenal are now hoping that they will formally agree terms with Aubameyang and be able to make an announcement in the near future.

Aubameyang could be part of a group of players to agree new terms with Arsenal, with Arteta’s side also hoping to tie up deals for Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Emi Martinez.

Keeping Maitland-Niles and Martinez around will be good news for Arsenal, but Aubameyang staying is the real major boost.

The Gabonese striker is unquestionably the outstanding player in Arteta’s squad and his commitment to the side should put them in a much stronger position next term.

Aubameyang proved his worth once again in the Community Shield final, as he scored Arsenal’s goal at Wembley with a brilliant finish, and if the Gunners do keep him around it will surely be their most important move of the summer.
