Arsenal are reportedly keen on Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal want to sign Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney – but staff behind the scenes are worried that a deal will be too expensive.
The Gunners brought in the likes of Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Lucas Torreira over the summer, but Unai Emery will be looking for more recruits in January even after a strong season so far.
Arsenal are allegedly focusing on foreign markets due to the rising price of signing homegrown players, but there is one British player they are interested in.
The Daily Mail report that Arsenal have been showing their interest in Fulham playmaker Cairney, with a view to potentially launching a January move to sign him.
However, it’s added that Gunners staff behind the scenes are worried that any deal for Cairney would be expensive, meaning Arsenal may well back away from making a swoop.
Cairney, 27, racked up 19 goals and 15 assists in his last two Championship campaigns, playing a key role under Slavisa Jokanovic whilst even scoring the winning goal in May’s Championship play-off final to win promotion for Fulham.

The Scottish international has suffered injury problems this season, limiting him to just three Premier League starts, and the Cottagers are certainly missing his creative influence in midfield.
Arsenal may look to add Cairney to their midfield options early in 2019, but with Fulham struggling and needing as much help as they can get, they are likely to slap a huge asking price on Cairney’s head, which is already causing Arsenal to have second thoughts above a move.
