Two more Premier League clubs have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Nicola Barella – Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Inter Milan midfielder in recent weeks.

But Gazzetta in Italy has today reported that the Reds have already opened talks with the Serie A champions about bringing him to Anfield.

The report has added that Tottenham and Arsenal have now also joined Jurgen Klopp’s side in trying to sign the 24-year-old.

All three need him

Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal all need midfielders this summer.

The Gunners are set to lose Granit Xhaka to Roma, having already sent Dani Ceballos back to Real Madrid, whereas Klopp is on the brink of seeing Gini Wijnaldum leave Merseyside on a free transfer.

On the white side of the North London divide, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko will do well to survive the summer after a pretty poor 2020-21 campaign, it has to be said.

But Liverpool seem to be winning the race and if you’re Barella, that’s where you want to be.

The German manager has already signed Ibrahima Konate and has Champions League football to offer, whereas Spurs don’t even have the Europa League and the Emirates Stadium outfit don’t have European football of any description.

Remember, Barella has been described as one of Europe’s top three midfielders by Inter legend Nicola Berti and although Tottenham and Arsenal are interested, neither have enough to offer the 24-year-old in comparison to other clubs.
