Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly looking to pounce for Philippe Coutinho if Aston Villa fail to sign the FC Barcelona superstar on a permanent deal.

According to Sport, Steven Gerrard’s side have first-refusal over signing the Brazilian this summer, with Coutinho starring for Villa since joining the West Midlands club in the January transfer window, however, Arsenal and Tottenham remain interested in the playmaker.

As per the report, the north London duo could pounce for the former Liverpool attacker if Villa are unable to sign Coutinho beyond his current loan spell. Barcelona signed the South American for a reported £142m as per BBC Sport, yet the La Liga giants are open to making a loss on this fee.

Reports indicate that the Catalan side will sell Coutinho for as little as £35m as Barcelona aim to rid themselves of the 29-year-old, and if Villa are unable to sign their new talisman for good, Arsenal and Tottenham could make moves for the Brazilian.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Coutinho for years, with Unai Emery reportedly keen on bringing the winger to north London in his second season with Arsenal, whilst Tottenham have chased the Premier League star for just as long.

With four goals and three assists since joining Villa in January, Coutinho has been key to Gerrard’s surging rise in the Premier League, and his form has now seemingly caught the eye again of both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Coutinho has been nothing short of a sensation for Villa since joining at the start of the year, and the Villains will have to look to sign the attacker to a permanent deal as soon as possible with Arsenal and Tottenham now looking to make a move.

Indeed, the Brazilian has been magical since returning to the Premier League, and at 29, Coutinho is reaching the peak of his powers with Villa as Arsenal and Tottenham seemingly look to have reignited their interest in the superstar attacker.
