According to Football.London, Arsenal are set to hold talks over a deal to sign Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Mat Ryan permanently.
It’s claimed that Arsenal are poised to open negotiations with the Seagulls in the hope of keeping Ryan.
The Australian joined Arsenal on loan in January, offering a more proven backup behind Bernd Leno given that Runar Runarsson had struggled.
Ryan has started three Premier League games for Arsenal, and has looked solid for the Gunners, sparking this interest in a permanent move.
The 29-year-old may never be first-choice at Arsenal, but he is a solid and dependable backup as the Gunner seek stability in goal.
Leno is keen on leaving the club and Runarsson’s future is unclear, so having Ryan in place as a settled backup would make great sense for Arsenal.

Ryan has one year left on his Brighton deal, and Graham Potter has no plans for him moving forward with Robert Sanchez his undoubted first-choice stopper now.
That means a deal shouldn’t cost Arsenal all that much, and shouldn’t be too difficult for Edu and co to complete with Arteta clearly a big fan having branded Ryan a ‘beast’ in training.
