Arsenal reportedly sent scouts to watch Danilo Pereira last week.

The Sun reported on Tuesday that Arsenal are interested in Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira.

The January transfer window opens in little over a month and plenty of Premier League sides will have already drawn up their shortlist of potential recruits ahead of the busy period.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that Arsene Wenger is active after a relatively quiet summer in which the Gunners signed only two players – Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.

But according to The Sun, Wenger might be interested in bringing somebody in, as the report claims that the North Londoners had scouts in attendance to watch the 26-year-old in action for Porto last Friday, where he volleyed home the opening goal for his side in a 3-2 win.

However, the report also suggests that Manchester United had scouts watching him in the same game.

Danilo Pereira of Portugal is watched by Wayne Rooney of England during the international friendly match between England and Portugal at Wembley Stadium on June 2, 2016 in London, England.

The 6’2 midfielder, who helped Portugal to Euro 2016 glory 18 months ago, is contracted to the Portuguese giants until 2022, so Wenger will have to spend big to nab him it would seem.

The French manager could do with an added bit of steel in his midfield, with Granit Xhaka struggling to justify his £35 million move to the Emirates from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016.
