Sampdoria’s Serie A playmaker Dennis Praet could reportedly move to the Premier League to replace Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey.

Arsenal sent their chief scout to watch Denis Praet on Sunday as speculation linking them with a move for the Sampdoria midfielder intensifies, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

The skilful Belgian international has emerged as a potential replacement for the Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey at the Emirates Stadium with Corriere dello Sport claiming last week that The Gunners were readying a bid of £17 million.

Arsenal have been linked with Praet for some time, Gianluca di Marzio claiming that they held talks with the so-called ‘Belgian Iniesta’ last summer.

And it seems that the North London giants are stepping up their interest 12 months on. TMW claims that Arsenal sent a scout to watch Praet in action as Sampdoria were beaten at home by Lazio on Sunday.

The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes, though he failed to add to his 2018/19 tally of two goals and two assists.

TMW adds that Sampdoria would demand around £21.5 million for the former Anderlecht youngster, meaning a £17 million bid from Arsenal would likely fall flat.

With funds tight, it remains to be seen how much more The Gunners would be prepared to offer.
