Arsenal appear to be close to beating the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Southampton and Celtic to the signature of Henry Onyekuru.
Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Eupen youngster Henry Onyekuru
A report from Sky Sports has suggested that Arsenal are closing in on winning the race to land Eupen forward Henry Onyekuru having entered talks to sign the 19-year-old starlet.
Onyekuru has quickly established himself as one of the brightest talents across Europe currently, having scored 20 goals in 36 games for the Belgian side, so unsurprisingly, he has been attracting attention from some of Britain’s biggest clubs.
Sky Sports reports that Southampton, Everton and West Bromwich Albion have all maintained an interest in the teenager while Celtic came close to signing Onyekuru during the January transfer window.
However, Sky Sports adds that Arsenal look to be in pole position to bag his signature having begun discussions, and it appears that they could land him for a bargain figure as he has a release clause of just £6.8 million.

He has rejected moves to some of Belgium’s bigger sides with Sky Sports suggesting that he wants to play in England. And while he is still a somewhat unproven talent having really burst onto the scene this season, there is no question that Arsenal would be pulling off a coup if they could get a deal done given the fee involved.
While the Gunners are the highest-profile team involved in the running for his signature, Celtic – if they are at all interested again this summer – can potentially offer Champions League football as early as next season while the other sides may have been hoping that the quality already at the Emirates would have left Onyekuru hesitant about a switch.
But it now appears that Arsenal are the ones to have moved ahead of Everton, West Brom and Southampton and are now in the driving seat to sign the youngster.
