The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Belgian stopper.

According to a report from Belgian news outlet HLN.be, Arsenal are continuing to monitor Standard Liege goalkeeper Guillaume Hubert, with scouts watching him for the sixth time this season when his side faced Genk.

The Gunners seem keen to bring a new young ‘keeper to the Emirates Stadium and Hubert is a viable option as his contract expires in just six months.

That means Arsenal could sign him for a knockdown price in January or negotiate a pre-contract agreement for a free transfer in the summer.

Hubert has appeared 33 times for Standard Liege to date, keeping 13 clean sheets in the process, and although Arsenal currently have Petr Cech as their undisputed number one he is not getting any younger.

At 22, Hubert is 12 years Cech’s junior and the international has come in for criticism recently for his performances in Arsenal’s back-to-back Premier League defeats.

If Hubert does arrive in North London he is unlikely to expect an immediate first-team place but that said he will be desperate to prove himself sooner rather than later.
