Arsenal are reportedly set to loan out a number of young players during the January transfer window.

The Gunners have quite a lot of exciting youth products coming through from the academy.

But many are at an age where they will benefit far more from playing regular senior football than Under-23.

One of those is Tim Akinola who, according to Football London, is set to leave Arsenal on a temporary basis next month.

The powerful midfielder is 20 and, at his age, playing men’s football every week could do wonders for his ongoing development.

And Football London claim that academy chief Per Mertesacker has sanctioned a loan.

Partey shocked

Akinola is a big prospect at London Colney.

We know that because it was reported in November that he was already making a good impression in Mikel Arteta’s first-team training.

Thomas Partey was reportedly left shocked by how strong the youngster was and it’ll be fascinating to see who he joins – and how he develops.

A loan to the Championship could be absolutely ideal.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have both benefitted big time by loaning young players to the second tier, with Oliver Skipp and Harvey Elliott proving that a temporary stint in that division can make a big difference.

Time will tell how Akinola fares.
