Gbamin’s impressive Bundesliga form for Mainz has resulted in links with Premier League giants Arsenal over the last 12 months.

Arsenal have a new midfield target in Mainz ace Jean-Philippe Gbamin, according to Fussball Transfers.
The 23-year-old is one of the most underrated players in the Bundesliga and continues to go from strength to strength at Mainz, the club he joined in 2016 from Lens. Skilful and elegant yet powerful and explosive, Gbamin is an impressive all-round enforcer who would fit into the Arsenal way while giving Unai Emery some bite in the centre of the park.
RMC Sport claimed in June 2018 that The Gunners were showing an interest in the Ivory Coast international and it seems that he is in their sights again almost 12 months on.
Fussball Transfers reports that Arsenal are still keen to bring Gbamin to the Emirates and he will become Mainz’s biggest ever export should the move come to fruition.

Sandro Schwarz’s side want £30 million, more than they made when selling Abdou Diallo to Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Gbamin idolises compatriot Yaya Toure and that is very apparent in his playing style. He also told Goal earlier in 2019 that he was keen to take the ‘next step’ after three impressive years in German football.
