Arsenal are ready to spend £250 million on new players this summer, as they look to overhaul their whole squad, 90 Mins suggest.

Arsenal are yet to make a signing, but links have begun to circulate recently with numerous players.

The Gunners are now said to be prepared to spend a staggering £250 million on new talent.

Of course, some of those funds would have to be raised through player sales.

But the fact that Arsenal are prepared to invest in their squad has to be seen as encouraging.

Arsenal badly disappointed last season, but there seems to be a realisation that work must be done.

As a result five new signings are being targeted, with the latest update suggesting that the Gunners want a new goalkeeper, a central defender, a full-back and two new central midfielders.

The likes of Ben White, James Maddison, Max Aarons, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Yves Bissouma are the names given in the report, as Arsenal eye up new additions.

Arteta must get it right

If Arsenal were to spend so heavily this summer that would immediately put Mikel Arteta under significant pressure.

Arteta only led Arsenal to mid-table finish last term, but there was an understanding that the squad wasn’t moulded for him yet.

With such a transfer spend, expectations will rise at the Emirates Stadium though.

And Arteta will surely have to make a fast start if he is to keep the faith of Arsenal supporters and board, after such a significant outlay.
