Thomas Partey to Arsenal is looking like a non-starter these days.
There was a time in the not-too distant past when the Gunners were being constantly linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid midfielder.
But as we push toward September, it seems unlikely at this stage that Partey – who’s been linked to Arsenal as far back as March – will be plying his trade in the Emirates Stadium next term.
Indeed, that’s also the view from Corriere Dello Sport as the Italian publication claims that the North Londoners have moved on and identified alternatives instead.
And the report states that Arsenal are readying a £27 million bid for Roma’s Amadou Diawara, a midfielder who impressively averages more interceptions per game than his Ghanaian counterpart in Madrid [WhoScored].
It has previously been reported that the Premier League side could swap Lucas Torreira for the Guinean powerhouse, who plays in the same sort of position, but Corriere add that the Serie A outfit would prefer the money.
If Diawara’s a genuine target, Mikel Arteta and Edu need to get the show on the road.
Arsenal kick off their Premier League season with a trip to Fulham on September 12 and the sooner the new boys – including Gabriel Magalhaes potentially – are integrated, the better.
