Arsenal have reportedly distanced themselves from the shock rumour emanating from Brazil on Friday.
According to Globo TV journalist Eric Faria, Arsenal are in negotiations to hire Brazil manager Tite after the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
It was quite a bombshell of a revelation when you consider that Mikel Arteta has the Gunners playing quite well, with the Spaniard’s outfit favourites to qualify for the Champions League.
However, ESPN Brasil has published a follow-up report to Faria’s claims.
According to ESPN Brasil, Arsenal have reached out to insist that there is ‘nothing‘ to the speculation that the 60-year-old will be taking charge of the Emirates Stadium club.
Arteta going nowhere
The rumour mill is capable of churning out a lot of you know what but, even by those standards, this is rather unbelievable.
Not only are Arsenal perfectly happy with Arteta – who turned 40 today – but there’s even been speculation that the Gunners will be extending his contract.
And if they finish inside the top four, it’s richly deserved.
Re-establishing Arsenal among Europe’s elite has been the short-term goal for the Spanish manager and if that is achieved – and it definitely should be this season – then a contract extension will certainly be offered and signed.
