According to a report by La Republicca, Arsenal are preparing to make a significant offer for Atalanta’s young Danish striker, Rasmus Hojlund.

The 20-year-old has been in excellent form this season, scoring six goals in Serie A so far, and his performances have caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Real Madrid and Arsenal.

While Arsenal’s attack was bolstered by the arrival of Gabriel Jesus in the summer, the addition of Hojlund could provide even more depth and firepower for the north London club.

However, the move would cast doubts over the future of Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun, two young strikers who are shining in their own rights this season.

Indeed, Balogun is the top scorer in France right now, while Nketiah has been consistently performing well in the absence of Jesus since the World Cup.

Hojlund has emerged as one of Serie A’s top prospects, and Atalanta won’t be keen to part ways with their star striker. After all, Gian Piero Gasperini is a big fan of the player.

“He has very similar characteristics to Haaland. Not just his face!” Gasperini said of Hojlund.

“He is so quick. He’s under 11 seconds over 100 metres and that’s not even trying very hard. Considering his height, he has a low centre of gravity and can move his legs very fast. I am convinced he’ll have a great career. He just gets stronger every day.”

If Arsenal do manage to secure the services of Hojlund, they will be getting a player who has already shown that he has the potential to be a top-class striker. His performances this season have been nothing short of exceptional, and at the age of just 20, he has so much room to grow.

The potential signing of Hojlund would be a very interesting addition for Arsenal, who are in need of more depth and quality up front.

It remains to be seen how much the Scandinavian would cost the Gunners, but the offer they are preparing has been described as ‘monstrous’, so this could be a hefty signing.
