Smalling still possesses decent pace, and his wealth of experience of playing at the very highest level for so long with United would surely prove to be invaluable to Arsenal.
The Greenwich-born centre-back can also operate in the right-back position, and would provide cover for Hector Bellerin – something that the Gunners currently need.
Smalling joined the Red Devils from Fulham in the summer fo 2010, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £10 million, and he has gone on to make 274 appearances for United.
