According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are now considering a new contract Mohamed Elneny – just over a year since it looked like his Gunners career was over.

Arsenal are allegedly planning talks over a new deal for the Egyptian, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2022.

Elneny has earned huge praise for his performance against Manchester United, having turned in a superb display alongside Thomas Partey.

Elneny is becoming something of a big-game player for Mikel Arteta, and that could now be reflected with a new deal to stay at the club.

Signed from Basel in January 2016, Elneny’s Arsenal career looked to be over under Unai Emery, as he was sent on loan to Besiktas last season.

However, he has forced his way into Arteta’s plans having returned over the summer, and looks set to earn an extension.

The 28-year-old isn’t particularly flashy, but he’s committed, hard-working and energetic, whilst bringing a positive personality to the Arsenal side.

On Sunday, Arteta suggested that Elneny was ‘tremendous’ against United and is now being respected as a football, which would certainly be supported by a new contract.
