Arsenal’s David Luiz has contacted an MLS club about potentially joining them, as he plans his exit from the Emirates Stadium, CBS report.

Luiz has just months remaining on his Arsenal deal, and it is said that he has not been told whether he will be given a new deal.

Mikel Arteta apparently admires the Brazilian, but his age stands against him.

Arsenal are putting together a youthful squad and at 34, Luiz is now the oldest regular in their team.

Arsenal have a number of other options in central defence, and it seems that Luiz’s exit is now moving closer.

The player is trying to organise a move for himself ahead of schedule, but it is felt that his wages may be too vast for the MLS sides.

It is likely that if Luiz does depart the impact may be felt more off the pitch than on it.

Arsenal’s youngsters have spoken about Luiz very positively as a role model.

But getting his salary off the books may enable Arsenal more freedom to bring in their owned planned additions, which could help in what looks set to be a busy summer.
