Arsenal fans are on cloud nine after a brilliant victory at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Sunday. The FA Cup and Community Shield wins showed that Mikel Arteta is the right man for the job, and he, like everyone in the squad, is improving game after game.

The Gunners boss is truly adored by the supporters. Arteta has had to make some really tough decisions along the way, but he hasn’t been afraid to make the big calls. The omission of Mesut Ozil is the prime example, but he isn’t the only player who hasn’t been playing.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos has also been left out of the Premier League and Europa League squads. That move is understandable as Arsenal have far too many options in central defence at the moment.

However, 2019 signing William Saliba has also not been given a place in the Europa League squad – something that Arteta himself claimed he regrets. (Goal)

Arsenal supporters are desperate to see the French prodigy in action, but that hasn’t happened yet. Saliba is yet to for play Arsenal in any competition this season, and that has reportedly left him frustrated.

French outlet But Football Club have revealed today that Saliba is ‘tired of his situation’, and he wants to leave Arsenal on loan in the upcoming January transfer window.

Saliba’s former club, Saint Etienne, are open to the possibility of having him back in the winter window. The report claims that Claude Puel’s side even tried to do a deal this summer, but they were left disappointed as the move didn’t materialise.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding, David Luiz, Pabo Mari, Calum Chambers and even Shkodran Mustafi are all ahead of Saliba in the pecking order at the Emirates. The young Frenchman is unlikely to get any game time this term, and a loan move makes sense.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal agree to send him back to France. A loan move to a club in England makes more sense considering that the defender needs to get used to the physicality of the Premier League, but Saint Etienne is a club he is very comfortable with, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him spend the second half of the campaign there.
