Napoli are planning to buy Arsenal’s Sead Kolasinac if Faouzi Ghoulam completes his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers during the final month of the transfer window, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

While Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has set his sights on a new full-back after losing Jonny Otto to a long-term injury, their Premier League rivals appear to have one left-sided defender too many.

Kolasinac has slipped behind Kieran Tierney in the pecking order while Ainsley Maitland-Niles also impressed on the left during the FA Cup final triumph over Chelsea.

The Bosnia international had filled in effectively in a more central role at times, but the arrivals of Gabriel Magalhaes and Pablo Mari on permanent deals means there is no obvious place for Kolasinac in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Reports in Italy suggest that Napoli could come to his rescue, with Gennaro Gattuso’s side identifying the former Schalke flyer as the man to replace the Molineux-linked Ghoulam.

Ghoulam, an experienced Algeria international who shone under Rafa Benitez and Maurizio Sarri at the Stadio San Paolo, has fallen down the pecking order himself due to a combination of injuries and the form of Mario Rui.

Alfredo Pedulla reported in August that Wolves have held talks with the £60,000-a-week former St Etienne wide man, who could soon join Rui Patricio, Ruben Neves and a host of other Jorge Mendes clients in England.

Arsenal, meanwhile, could accept just £5 million for Kolasinac with Roma also interested ahead of Aleksandar Kolarov’s move to Inter Milan (Gazzetta).
