Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool may not have to pay over £100 million for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, according to a new report.
Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs who have been strongly linked with Rice.
The Daily Star reported last weekend that Arsenal believe that they are in pole position to sign the England international midfielder.
The North London club are reportedly willing to pay £240,000 per week to Rice.
The report claimed that West Ham are looking for £100 million in transfer fees for the star midfielder.
Sky Sports reported last month that Liverpool are keen on bringing the 24-year-old England international midfielder to Anfield.
And now, according to journalist Miguel Delaney in his Reading the Game newsletter in The Independent (2:01pm, May 12, 2023), Arsenal or Liverpool could be able to get Rice for £90 million.
That’s a discount of £10 million on the original price.

Arsenal or Liverpool could get Declan Rice for £90m
Delaney wrote: “There could be a mini merry-go-round with midfielders in this window, that is a smaller version of what will happen with forwards.
“Declan Rice is the big available target, with West Ham United insisting on over £100million in order to rebuild their team. Many in football, however, feel they would accept £90m.”
Exciting
In our view, Arsenal or Liverpool would be a better team with Declan Rice in it.
Rice is one of the best midfielders around, and he is still only 24.
We believe that the Englishman, described as “perfect” by talkSPORT pundit and Rangers legend Ally McCoist in March 2023, will leave the Hammers at the end of the season.
Rice has become too big for West Ham now, and he does need to move to a bigger club who win and challenge for major honours on a regular basis.
Arsenal do have a strong midfield department, but someone like Rice would make the Gunners even better in the middle of the park.
As for Liverpool, manager Jurgen Klopp could do with Rice, who would make the Reds stronger, more solid and more combative in midfield.
