Arsenal will be willing to sell the midfielder should he fail to sign a new deal.

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal are open to selling Mesut Ozil should he fail to sign a new deal.

The German star has been in fine form for the Gunners with eight goals in all competitions so far.

He has just 18 months remaining on his contract and Arsene Wenger’s side are desperate to get him signed to a new deal.

Ozil is currently the highest earner at the Emirates Stadium but he is reportedly chasing an increase and that has led negotiations to something of an impasse.

Should an agreement fail to be reached, the Telegraph reports that Arsenal would be open to selling their star player next summer.

They are also in negotiations with Alexis Sanchez, whose deal also expires in 18 months, and Ozil is seen as more expendable.

The Chilean has been in sensational form in the striker role this season and Arsene Wenger is aware it would be more difficult to find a new striker than an attacking midfielder.

Should Ozil leave, a return to Real Madrid could be on the cards, with the midfielder having revealed recently he would be open to heading back to the Bernabeu.
