According to Goal, Arsenal have offered to triple Thomas Patrtey’s wages in a bid to sign him this summer.

The Ghanaian is reportedly Arsenal’s top target in this summer’s transfer window. Partey and Atletico have reached an impasse in transfer negotiations due to the Spanish giants’ recent financial troubles.

Partey’s agents reportedly demanded a commission to convince their client to extend his stay in Madrid. That has angered CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, who has decided to stand up against the midfielder’s representatives.

Diego Simeone’s side will also struggle to meet their initial offer to Partey due to the current financial climate.

That has put Arsenal in pole position, whose salary offer to Partey is something that Atleti cannot afford to match.

The Guardian reported back in April that Atletico Madrid were prepared to double Partey’s wages with a £130,000 a week offer on the table.

Arsenal, if the report from Goal is to be believed, will offer a staggering £195,000 a week to Partey, which would be too difficult for him to turn down.

It will be interesting to see how this story unfolds at the end of this season. Arsenal’s contract offer is certainly a very healthy one for Partey but the Gunners will still have to pay his £44 million release clause.

Atleti will likely demand that fee in one go which will make things extremely difficult for Arsenal who, like their Spanish counterparts, are victims of the recent financial problems across Europe.
